The aim of this article is to highlight the political significance of the “neuter” in Maurice Blanchot’s works. Starting from a comparison with Heidegger and Levinas’ thought on the subject matter, this article analyzes on the one hand, the philosophical relevance of this concept within western metaphysics, and on the other, stresses the relation it determines between literature and revolution in Blanchot’s writings. In the final part of this article the attention focuses on the political moment of the blanchottian reflection, putting to question the social role of the writer and the equivocalness of his work
